What a wonderful, whirlwind year we have had at the Bristly Thistle, thanks to all of you!  Since last summer, I have been to two trade shows and have loads of new canvases for you to stitch.  Read all about my adventures on our needlepoint blog (bristlythistle.wordpress.com).

 Happy stitching,

Michele

New Designers at the Bristly Thistle:

Sparrowkids

These perfect craft projects for children are imported from England. They were recently featured in an issue of Country Living. They not only provide your child with a fun stitching craft, but they are great for playing 'dress up' when they are finished.

HP Designs

A new designer in our store, HP Designs produces beautiful & sophisticated canvases, They also import elegant lacquer boxes in a wide range of sizes and finishes, including burl wood and gold leaf.  These boxes are the perfect way to showcase your stitched canvases.

 Julie Mar

I had a chance to sit with Julie in her booth at the San Diego show. She is a charming woman whose floral paintings take you right into the garden. Before she painted canvases, she was a metal artist who worked with silver. She has a wonderful sense of Nature’s colors and shapes.

Tiger Stadium

Have a Tigers fan in your house?  This would make a great pillow or framed work.  Not a Tiger’s fan?  Other teams are available too, including Cubs, White Sox, Dodgers, Red Sox and Yankees.

Voila!

Voila! will be visiting us this summer with their trunk show.  This is a sample dog leash they painted for Morgan.  Look for lots of belts, shoes and fun designs with tropical colors.

Ewe & Eye

Ewe and Eye is a new design company for the Bristly Thistle. The Birdy Hotel is too funny and I love their sampler style canvases.

New Items in the store:

Julia is always innovative and has introduced this line of china boxes complete with a hinge and a needlepoint top.

These glass jars are also from Julia’s Needleworks. We will have most of their line in the store during their trunk show.

Sunny Bunny by Denise DeRusha is a great example of 3 dimensional stitching.  I will be teaching this as a class in August.

These wonderful new canvases from Rosalie Peters have just arrived in the store. They were inspired by greeting cards done in colored pencil by Gigi.  We have six of these colorful designs in stock.  This one is called “Ducky at Bat”.

We just received a new selection of Christmas stockings by Alexa, Alice Peterson
and Strictly Christmas. These stockings will make great family heirlooms.

These wonderful new designs have just arrived in the store from Rishfeld. The warm and bright palette of this canvas can be tied in to many different interior styles.

Ruth Schmuff has produced two CD’s, each of which contains 300 stitches and are compatible with PC and Mac. No more lugging around heavy books for just a few illustrated stitches. Use it as a stitch encyclopedia OR create your own portable stitch book for your newest needlepoint project.

This new canvas is also from Rosalie Peters.  I think it is a wonderful view of the North woods.

It comes with a stitch guide, making it a canvas with a built-in private lesson.

I found these fruit canvases at the San Diego trade show. The artist, Kim Walton, had a stitched model made up as a darling purse—very fun and summery. They would be wonderful as pillows or framed pieces in a kitchen or sun-room. We can finish any canvas in a variety of purse styles.
