I am writing to you a little early this year because we have some great news!  We are moving this week to a new store
on Bay Street, about one block away from the old store.  The new store has been completely remodeled and is very
bright and airy.  We also now have a second floor where we can hold classes and stitching sessions.

Please see below for a map and directions to the new store.

Happy stitching,

Michele

Finding the new store:

From the old store, go East on Lake Street towards Cutler’s.  Turn left on Howard then left on Shopper’s Lane at Gattle’s.

Or, you can go through McLean and Eakin and out their back door on the lower level.  Then, turn to your right.

New Canvases at the Bristly Thistle:

Silver Needle

The Silver Needle has a new series of “Up North” canvases—and we bought them all.  The canvases are perfect for your Northern Michigan décor.

Danji has created a new series for junior sports fans.  Included are Baseball, Soccer, Basketball and Football canvases.

JP Needlepoint has released these new canvases based on the fractal.  Fractals occur in nature too, but these designs might be the first in the needlepoint world.

Kathy Schenkel is not just one of the nicest people on the planet; she’s a very talented designer whose designs are great fun to stitch.  Her sailboats bring the summer sun with them.  Check out the sailboats and footstool on our website.

Rishfeld represents a number of wonderful artists with very different styles.  I fell for the cats and dogs by Anne Hathaway.

Ewe & Eye

I found terrific animals from these designers at Market.  I also love their samplers.

Associated Talents always has new designs that are sophisticated and cheery.  I love this pinwheel canvas—it would be gorgeous as a pillow for a child’s room, or for a bright family room.

Mindy’s designs are elegant and detailed; think of stitching with gold threads, velvet, silk and ribbon and adding beads.

Birds of a Feather has one of the best needlepoint sampler selections.  This is one of my favorites “No bees, no honey.  No work, no money.”

Needlepoint Broad doesn’t just paint baseball stadiums.  Here is her version of a beloved Up North bird, the loon.

Julia’s Needleworkhas picked up a number of terrific lines.  Look for leather loafers in our store this summer.

Elizabeth Turner doesn’t just paint belts and purses.  This elfin welcome sign would be darling finished with jingle bells and ribbons.

Strictly Christmas paints Christmas stockings that make me wish I had more children to stitch for.  The artistry and whimsy evoke all the wonderful warm feelings we have for the Christmas season.

Alice Peterson had so many wonderful new designs; it was hard to choose among them.  This calla lily comes with a wonderful stitch guide.

DJ Designs continues to produce exciting new canvases.  My favorites this year were the Zapotec inspired canvases, and those inspired by the ironwork in Italy
